Congressional Salaries

Congressional salaries should be based on the median household income.

To avoid runaway salary increases in congress, representatives should not vote for their own pay, but instead base it off the median household income in the United States. In this matter, Congress will have a salary increase only if the average American citizen is earning more. Congressional salaries are heavily tied to the Constitution and its Amendments, so implementation would be most powerful in an Amendment, the goal of which is increasing transparency in government, and promoting increased participation of everyday Americans in Federal Government.
